Cicciona

Right in the centre of Aosta city, I met Alberto Vescovo in his Gourmet Panificcio Bar ‘Baguette e Bollicine’. It is situated right in the center of Aosta city in the Viale Conseil Des commis at the angle with the ‘Piazza Chanoux’. In his bottega he sells sandwiches at lunch time and in the late afternoon he makes delicious antipasti plates to combine with beer, wine and the finest bubbles on the Italian market. He prepares the most amazing sandwiches with very original combinations of fillings.  Alberto only transferred to Aosta two years ago, before that he worked and lived in Modena in the hotel and restaurant business. In his bottega he makes a combination of the firm mountain ingredients of the Aosta Valley together with the refined delicacies of mostly Emiglia Romagna. Besides the food he also has an amazing selection of artisanal beer, wine and liquors to choose from.

Gambero Rosso
This bar especially caught my attention because  Baguette e Bollicine was chosen as the best Street Food 2021 for the region of Valle D’Aosta by Gambero Rosso, a National Streetfood Guide.

Eaten and approved!
The sandwich I tasted was a Cicciona: Artisanal baguette filled with a local salami, toma cheese, red barries marmelade, red salad, and a hony-mustard.
